Last week, a statement by a well-known businessman, head of the construction company "Sharur" Isfandiyar Akhundov (Sharurlu Isfandiyar) regarding mosques caused a wide discussion in social networks and the press.
Yeniavaz.com reports that after Sharurlu Isfandiyar said: "If I had the opportunity, I would demolish all the mosques and build schools in their place", a comparison of schools and mosques in the country came to the forefront of discussions.
Amid discussions on social networks on the topic of “school and mosque”, we present data on the number of comprehensive schools, students, mosques and religious communities in Azerbaijan over the past 7-8 years:

At the same time, over the past 7 years - 2017-2023 - the number of mosques has increased by 8 or 0.4%, and the number of religious communities - by 248 or 33%.
