Recently, information has been circulating in the press and social networks that the cost of drinking water in Azerbaijan is higher than the selling price.
Yeniavaz.com
reports that the information that the cost of water is higher than the selling price has caused controversy among the population.
Citizens believe that after the dissemination of such information, water tariffs will be increased again.
It is worth noting that similar information was published in the country's press in the last months of 2020. Shortly after the publication of this information, water tariffs were increased.
For information, Azerbaijan currently ranks average in the region in terms of water tariffs.
We present water and sewerage tariffs in the countries of the region:

It should be noted that when water tariffs were increased in previous years, differentiated tariffs were not applied. As is known, differentiated tariffs have been applied in Azerbaijan for a long time for the sale of natural gas and electricity. However, a single, unchangeable tariff applies to the sale of water. As with other utility tariffs, the use of differentiated tariffs for water can be beneficial for low-income families and population groups with low consumption levels. As with the sale of natural gas and electricity, prices can be low for those who consume little and high for those who consume a lot. This is also considered one of the most effective ways to save water.
