It was previously reported that "Trendyol", one of Turkey's leading e-commerce platforms, has signed an agreement with "Pasha Holding".
Yeniavaz.com reports that according to the agreement, the parties will jointly provide e-commerce services in Azerbaijan.
For information, "Trendyol", the largest e-commerce platform in Turkey, was established in 2010 by Demet Mutlu with an investment of $300,000.
Demet Mutlu, founder of "Trendyol", was born on August 22, 1981 in New York. Demet Mutlu completed her secondary education at a French high school. She later graduated from the New York University Department of Economics. Mutlu, who worked in finance, marketing and business development in Switzerland, Japan, the US and Turkey, went on to pursue a master's degree at Harvard University. During her visit to Turkey, Demet Mutlu, seeing that there was a gap in e-commerce, especially in clothing, left Harvard University in her second year and came to Turkey to found "Trendyol".
Currently, the main shareholder of "Trendyol", which has an e-commerce platform in Turkey and 27 countries in Europe, is the Chinese company "Alibaba Group", which owns one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the world.
The "Alibaba Group", which has about 260,000 employees worldwide, reportedly had a net profit of about $7.5 billion in 2022.
"Alibaba Group" acquired 75% of "Trendyol" for $728 million in 2018. After 3 years, "Alibaba Group" invested another $350 million and increased its stake in "Trendyol" to 86.5%.
The share of Demet Mutlu, the founder of "Trendyol", in the company fell to 6.96%. In addition, Demet Mutlu's ex-husband Evren Uchok owns 5.55% of the company, Begum Tekin 0.78% and Zeki Guchlu Kaya 0.21%.
It should also be noted that owning 1% of "Trendyol" means owning approximately $150 million.
